About Game On! Generations
Game On Generations is our groundbreaking gaming program designed specifically for seniors who want to connect with younger generations through video games. Running alongside our Youth Game Design Academy, this program creates a unique intergenerational experience where grandparents learn gaming skills while their grandchildren create games nearby.
Position Overview
We're seeking an enthusiastic, patient Gaming Instructor to teach seniors how to navigate gaming consoles, understand controllers, and enjoy various video games in a supportive, age-appropriate environment. This position is perfect for someone who loves gaming but also has a gift for explaining technology to beginners with clarity and patience.
Key Responsibilities
Teach seniors (55+) how to use PlayStation and Xbox gaming systems and more
Explain controller functions and game navigation in clear, accessible language
Introduce participants to various game genres, focusing on age-appropriate titles
Demonstrate and explain accessibility features designed for diverse players
Facilitate joint sessions with our Youth Game Design Academy
Create supportive learning materials and take-home references
Assist with "Family Friday" gaming tournaments and showcases
Provide one-on-one support for participants who need extra help
Schedule & Details
Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (includes setup/breakdown time)
Location: Tech Time Cincinnati Foundation Education Building
Compensation: Unpaid Internship
Potential for additional hours with other tech camps

Requirements
Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of gaming platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo) and popular games
Previous teaching, training, or coaching experience (formal or informal)
Exceptional patience and outstanding communication skills
Ability to explain technical concepts in simple, non-technical language
Genuine interest in working with older adults
Understanding of age-appropriate gaming content
Background in education, recreation therapy, or senior services is a plus
CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Required Skills
Strong gaming proficiency across multiple platforms
Excellent verbal communication and active listening
Adaptability and creative problem-solving
Empathy and cultural sensitivity
Basic troubleshooting abilities for gaming equipment
Ability to adjust teaching pace based on learner needs
