About the Role

We're seeking a creative and knowledgeable Game Design Instructor to lead our youth business tech summer camp focused on teaching students how to create and sell their own games. In this role, you'll guide campers through the entire game development process—from initial concept and design to programming, art creation, testing, and online distribution. This position offers an excellent opportunity to share your technical and creative expertise while helping young developers build valuable skills at the intersection of technology, art, and entrepreneurship.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver engaging curriculum on game design fundamentals, including game mechanics, level design, and player experience
Teach programming skills using game development platforms (such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or Godot)
Guide students through creating digital art assets for their games, including characters, environments, and UI elements
Instruct campers on game testing methodologies, debugging, and iterative design processes
Provide hands-on training for publishing games to online platforms (such as Steam, itch.io, or mobile app stores)
Mentor students on game marketing strategies, building a player community, and monetization approaches
Facilitate discussions on current gaming trends, market opportunities, and ethical game design
Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback throughout the program
Collaborate with other instructors to ensure a cohesive learning experience across program tracks

Travel Requirements
Our positions require mobility and travel. Youth classes are conducted at local high schools or education buildings, not at our main office. Similarly, Tech It Easy classes are held off-site at nursing homes and adult care facilities throughout Cincinnati. However once you are assigned to an education building that will serve as your primary location. As an intern, you will be expected to travel to these various work sites and will only report to our main office once per week for team meetings and administrative tasks. Therefore, all applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel approximately 25% of their work time. Additionally, our networking events and special programs are typically held at convention centers in the Cincinnati area. Reliable transportation is essential for this position, as you'll need to transport materials and equipment between locations. Please consider these travel requirements carefully before applying.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in game development, with knowledge of at least one major game engine

  • Programming skills relevant to game development (C#, C++, Python, or similar)

  • Understanding of digital art creation for games

  • Knowledge of game publishing processes and marketing strategies

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to explain complex concepts in accessible ways

  • Experience teaching or mentoring youth (ages 13-21) preferred

  • Passion for game design and helping young people develop creative and technical skills

  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check

  • Must consent to random drug testing as per foundation policy

  • Reliable transportation to our Cincinnati locations
